| Building Science Engineer Responsibilities • Conducts building assessments and audits and provide recommendations with sound technical judgment • Prepares contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with project team for delivery to client. • Documents study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events. • Provides direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions and assign work to appropriate individuals. • Liaises with clients to exchange information regarding project progress. • Provides technical judgment. • Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation. • Prepares site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients. • Reviews shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability. • Certifies professional work. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or Architecture • Professional Architecture or Engineering (P. Eng./PE) status • 5+ years experience in the building design and construction industry • Experience in building envelope detailing and construction, and building science principles, would be an asset, as would investigation and rehabilitation of building structures • Experience managing engineering projects • Ability to work with and lead a team of professionals, liaise with clients, contractors and municipal authorities • Interest in business development/sales and project management an asset | |
