Field Technical Support Representative

The Field Technical Support Representative provides on-site technical support for the family of IDEXX VetLab® instruments (LaserCyte®, VetTest®, Catalyst DX®, VetStat®, VetLyte®, SnapShot DX and the IDEXX Vetlab Station®) working closely with Animal Health and Veterinary Technicians to ensure optimal instrument use and performance. This individual will investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, train customers on the effective use of IDEXX products and recommend methods to improve workflow. He/she will act as the customer advocate and gain insightful knowledge of customer needs following through reliably to address those needs and as the voice of the customer, bring information back to product management for future enhancements.


Animal Health Technician (AHT) or Veterinary Technician (VT) Licensure, or 3 or more years as a Veterinary or Animal Health Technician is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills and independent thinking are required.


Weekly travel within the assigned territory is required, all expenses are paid.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for technical aspects of customer account on assigned product lines.
Act as primary contact for the customer in the resolution of product related technical issues.
Provide statistical reports on the status of product issues and provide recommendations.
Provide feedback to appropriate in-house personnel regarding customer needs, thereby furthering the company’s efforts in the development of new products or product improvements.
Promote company products through trade shows, scientific and other meetings and make presentations at these functions.
Provide training or technical assistance to other representatives, new employees, and other personnel.
Provide feedback pertinent to development and implementation of sales programs, promotions, and marketing strategies..

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Laboratory experience with immunoassays, chemistry, and hematology and related techniques.
Good problem solving and research skills.
Ability to speak several different languages a plus.
Good organizational skills
Verbal and written communication skills needed.
Needs good working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and data collection software.
Ability to troubleshoot assay, technique issues, hardware and software problems.
Ability to interact well with other team members and customers.
Skilled in safe laboratory practices.
