Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Process Engineering Team at the Shell Scotford Refinery, the Process Engineers are responsible for:
- Process monitoring and optimization of process units
- Energy management and optimization
- Contributing to optimal refinery unit operation with respect to environmental emissions,process safety and product quality
- Catalyst management
- Profitability enhancement initiatives
- Jointly responsible with the Business Group for business tools such as linear program models
- Capital project development up to scoping studies
- Technical assistance to Operations
- Troubleshooting of medium and long term process problems
- Technical assistance to maintenance in preparation for and during turnarounds
- Review of capital project and Management of Change proposals
- This is a great role for an engineer who wishes to develop their competencies in leadership, influencing others and has an interest in Operations engineering as part of their career development


Requirements:

- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Chemical Engineer
- Must be a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta or eligible to transfer from another province
- 10 years of experience of Process or Operations Engineering in a Refinery, Upgrader or Chemicals Manufacturing environment
- Relevant experience working in a company related to the processing of hydrocarbons is essential for this position
- Strong Process Engineering skills including Distillation, Heat Transfer, Fluid flow, and catalytic reactions
- Experience and skill in using and developing process simulation models
- Strong issue and incident investigation skills and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Process Engineering obligations in a manufacturing environment including change management (MOC) work processes and procedures
- Knowledge of business and economic drivers in a refinery
- Demonstrated knowledge of Linear Programming (LP) models would be an asset
- Knowledge and experience of Process Safety and Personal safety issues and solutions in a Manufacturing environment
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and effectively with peers and clients.
- Ability to develop, articulate and lead a case for change
- Ability to determine improvement opportunities and lead those opportunities to successful completion
- Deal effectively with a diverse workforce in an open and honest manner
