| Materials and Corrosion Engineer Responsibilities: - Reporting to Regional Manager of Materials,Corrosion and Equipment Integrity, the successful candidate shall perform the following duties: - Conduct experiment in materials in laboratory,with H2S,H2 and other corrosive environment. - Implement Shell Risk Based Inspection in Shell facilities,in Canada and Shell facilities worldwideProvide technical support to projects in materials selection and materials & welding issues - Write generic or plant-specific corrosion control document. Perform and coordinate failure analysis in laboratory - Train and provide services in material failure modes and probabilities, risk analysis, NDE interpretation. - Lead,or participate in,a team of engineers to solve mechanical or material problems.Under supervision,perform code calculations related to pressure equipment, ASME Codes or API 510 Code. - Provide repair options and strategies for pressure equipment. - Under supervision,perform stress analyses using tools such as finite element analysis and pipe flexibility analysis to determine stress causes and how to mitigate. - Working under supervision,conduct other fitness for service evaluations using acceptable methodologies at various levels. - Upkeep of engineering standards related to materials and pressure equipment. Participate in risk-based turnaround premise setting and turnaround scope development efforts Participate or lead pressure equipment integrity audits. Requirements: - University post-graduate master degree in materials science. - Expert knowledge in the behavior of hydrogen in metal at the academic level, along with a minimum of 2 years of working experience in this area - Minimum 5 years of full-time working experience in ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol/ polypropylene chemical plants, and in oil refinery, in the area of engineering corrosion control. - Previous formal training, and a minimum of 4 years of experience, in implementation of S-RBI (Shell Risk Based Inspection), or equivalent process, in operating plants, - Previous metallurgical failure analysis experience, and pressure equipment integrity engineering. - Professional engineer or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Alberta We are celebrating almost a century of operations in Canada.
