Derrickhand - Oil & Gas Well Servicing

Savanna Well Servicing is seeking experienced Derrickhands with service rig experience, for the maintenance of well servicing rigs.


Derrickhand Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Learn and adhere to all Company and Government safety requirements pertaining to the worksite.
- Watch and maintain proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment and preventative maintenance programs.
- Work about the drilling floor, on the monkey board, guiding the drill pipe during the tripping in/tripping out process, ensuring to wear proper safety equipment.
- Select and assign new crew members to tasks related to the circulation system.
- Responsible for rig ups and preparing circulating equipment prior to drilling.
- Responsible for head ups and pressure tests of casing/cement, tripping of pipe, proper fluid drainage at shut downs and rig outs to prevent freezing.
- Other duties as assigned by Driller.

Certifications:

- H2S Alive (Hydrogen Sulphide Safety Training)
- Standard First Aid
- TDG Clear Language
- WHIMIS (Worker's Health Industrial Management Information System)
- Fall Protection


Physical Demands:

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach and move about rig location.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, such as rain and extreme heat/cold.
- Exposure to loud noises.
- May be required to lift / move objects over 50 pounds.

Class 1 or 3 driver’s license preferred, but will consider providing training for individuals with a Class 5 license to acquire a Class 3 license.
