Company Profile
Our client is a globally operating industrial group with nearly 100 production sites and service offices on six continents. They produce high-grade, non-substitutable ceramic products worldwide, crucial to all industrial high-temperature production processes exceeding 1200C.

Responsibilities
- Ensure all aspects of OHS/EHS are communicated, implemented & enforced at all levels
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective health and safety programs, forms, and processes from a National perspective and facilitate implementation across Canada
- Identify and review all health and safety concerns
- Monitor the safety performance of all non-site workers ensuring a safe work environment
- Monitor & maintain close involvement on major projects and service. Assist PM and Site Managers/Supervisors with safety binders, safety inspections, and safety audits
- Interface with strategic customer Safety Professionals
- Initiate changes or new methods to reduce hazards and risks
- Stay up-to-date with current OH&S legislations and codes of practices
- Monitor legislative and industry changes, modify program documentation/training
- Conduct Contractor evaluations, re-evaluations & performance reviews
- Establish training/orientation programs & an overall OHS/EHS Training Plan
- Monitor and measure performance toward creating a positive Safety Culture
- Provide regular reports & feedback to Management Team on Safety program performance, new initiatives and on-going actions/improvements
- Interface with local OHS Advisors, provide leadership & direction
- Liaise with a range of functional groups and individuals both internal and external to the organization

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 + years in construction industry with focus on refinery work
- Solid experience as a Safety Officer in the construction, oil and gas, cement, steel, fabrication, pulp & paper industries
- One or more of the following: NSCO(National Construction Safety Officer) designation, CRSP(Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation, HSA (Health and
Safety Administrator), OH&S certification
- Previous experience in implementing Health and Safety programs in the Commercial Construction Industry
- Knowledge of current legal and technological developments is a must
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and facilitating skills
- Knowledge of HS legislation for Alberta and other provinces
- Knowledge and experience in safety practices related to Construction, Oil and Gas Industries
- Ability to clarify and simplify complex issues
- Represents the high level of authority to stop unsafe work
- Monitor and direct other
