Controller - Manufacturing & Distribution Firm

Our client an Edmonton manufacturing and distribution firm is seeking a Controller for their head office in Edmonton. Reporting to the CFO the Controller provides leadership in financial reporting and guidance to the management team.

Core Duties:

* The Controller will take overall responsibility for full cycle accounting operations
* Preparing timely and accurate monthly financial statements
* Maintaining financial policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting standards and controls
* Coordinate the annual financial planning, budgeting and forecasting process
* Improving the internal control process
* Lead the development of ongoing process improvement
* Ability to identify opportunities for improvement on a proactive basis

Required Skills:

* An accounting designation - CMA / CGA / CA
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior financial position preferably in a Controller role
* Ability to provide financial guidance to senior management
* Experience with job costing and inventory management
* Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees
* Effective problem solving skills required to contribute to the business beyond the role of a financial accountant
* Solid written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with management, staff and external service providers
* Self-starter, able to work independently
* Energy and enthusiasm is a must.
