| Operations Manager (Transportation) Operations Manager – Edmonton Terminal Westcan Bulk Transport Ltd. REPORTS TO: TERMINAL MANAGER, EDMONTON INDUSTRY: Transportation/Trucking LOCATION: Edmonton At Westcan, we dedicate ourselves to delivering complete, customer-driven transportation solutions. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the Edmonton Terminal, including the Driver Support staff and branch administration. Our normal work environment is fast-paced and highly interactive. You will be expected to deliver on your own objectives, while supporting the Terminal in all operational activities. Responsibilities: • Oversee the daily operation of the Terminal and leadership of branch staff • Communicate driver schedules and ensure effective utilization of all driver schedules • Communicate and effectively facilitate the resolution of driver concerns, escalating when necessary • Facilitate training needs between Driver Support and Operations Group • Analyze data to predict staffing requirements, liaise with Human Resources to ensure recruitment needs are fulfilled • Ensure customer requests are responded to in a timely manner including preparation of required information for meetings and planning sessions; ensure customer service commitments are met by all staff • Facilitate the effective utilization and maintenance of equipment • Prepare annual, semi-annual, monthly and weekly reports as required • Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial Regulations and company Policies and Procedures • Participate in employee relations, such as dispute resolution, discipline, communications in conjunction with Human Resources and create and maintain a positive work environment • Provide input in the general management and operation of the branch as it relates to staffing • Provide assistance to Terminal Manager in all areas relating to operations, act as back up when Terminal Manager is out of the office • Other duties as required Qualifications: • Post-secondary education with a concentration in administration, safety, logistics or transportation; other related training would be an asset • Several years of diverse experience with supervisory responsibilities in the transportation industry required • Experience with Windows based programs, TMW experience is an asset • Knowledge of heavy duty truck maintenance and repairs an asset • Required to be on-call during scheduled work days • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Well organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic and confident with a roll up your sleeves attitude towards work • A self starter with a highly energetic results oriented work style combined • Ability to maintain a sense of humour in challenging situations • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills • Capable of handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition, able to work independently • A solid business presence complimented by personal drive, resourcefulness, maturity, integrity, honesty and sound business judgment COMPENSATION: A competitive base salary + bonus opportunity, and a comprehensive benefits package To apply quote competition #01-10-0527OMCJ and send resume attention to Todd Peterson.
